Memorial Day 2016

Spring, are you finally here?

 What a beautiful day we had yesterday.  I took the boys to the playground - no jackets needed.  I chased them a little, then sat on a bench in the sunshine and watched them run around and make friends with other kids at the park.  Lovely!

Today I have declared it "Food On A Stick Day!"  This morning we had breakfast sausage deep fried in pancake batter (probably the last time I will do that- lots of work and not very healthy!) and fruit kebabs.
Dinner was Moroccan ground chicken kebabs with a ton of spices and roasted veggies.  My favorite was dessert of course- pound cake and strawberries drizzled with chocolate!

Today is a special day

The boys stayed with their grandparents last night so I was able to put together a decorated table and some treats for Valentine's Day for them.  They were delighted when they got home and saw everything.  Each of them received a card, a box of chocolates, and a stuffed animal (these came from students in past years and lived in my classroom until I got new ones this year!).  I made heart shaped PBJ sandwiches for their lunch, and then we went on a wintry walk down along the river.

SNOW

What a SNOWY winter this has been.  Today it is snowing again, just as I hoped it would finally start warming up.  We had just begun to see grass in our yard again!  The boys had fun climbing up and sledding down the mountain in our cul de sac.  The plows ended up putting so much snow there that the garbage truck had a hard time getting though.  The city had to come with a dump truck to load up the mountain and take it away!  The snow has made for some beautiful days this winter.

Adventures Along the River

The Irene Reinhart Riverfront Trail is lovely in the fall.  We have been there a few times lately- with Scouts, with friends, and for an afterschool walk.

We had a day of autumnal fun today.  We headed northeast of town to Huffman Farms today for some time at the pumpkin patch.  After visiting their animals and eating a hearty lunch at their barbecue stand, we went on a hayride, did a scavenger hunt through the corn maze and did some pumpkin picking.
This afternoon, the boys helped me decorate some fall themed sugar cookies before we had a picnic dinner and movie on the living room floor.
I know I am exhausted!
