Colleen and the Terrible, Horrible, No-Good, Very Bad Day

(Well, that may be a slight exaggeration. But only slightly!)
1. Car wouldn't start this morning so Rj had to jumpstart us.
2. Got to daycare and realized I had no checks to pay the bill.
3. Forgot that Mondays are early out and had to rearrange my whole schedule.
4. Had to rearrange the schedule again when the reading intervention teacher gave me her new schedule for Mondays vs. rest of week.
5. Had to slightly rearrange schedule again when special area teachers changed start times.
6. Faced up to the fact that no, I am still NOT PREGNANT so please stop asking!
7. Had to leave early and couldn't get work done when car wouldn't start again, so RJ had to jump start car again, and we took the jeep so he could go to the auto parts store to relpace the battery
8. Stirling ate a jumbo sized blue crayon
9. Stirling dumped glitter on the kitchen floor while I made dinner.
10. Stirling then did not eat any of the dinner I made.
11. While cleaning up said floor, ripped my favorite dancing skirt.
12. Was then late for belly dance class.
13. Get home to find that RJ and Stirling had spent all evening at the pharmacy and had just arrived home well after Stirling's bedtime eating McDonalds instead of the meal I prepared earlier!
14...... Well, the day isn't over yet, so who knows?

Ok, maybe just a bad day. Nothing catastrophic or really horrible happened. I have a good husband who helped me a lot, my class was pretty good today, and the sun was shining. It was just one of those days. On the bright side tomorrow has got to be better, right?!!

Sedro Woolley Vacation

After spending time in Ellensburg, Stirling and I visited Sedro Woolley to see my family. We enjoyed playing outside a lot, although the cold foggy mornings were a bit cooler than I expected. Stirling had fun playing in the wading pool, going to the beach and a nearby creek, meeting his Grammy and Grampy Greff, and playing at the playground. I was really glad to see my family. It didn't last long enough!

Vacation to Ellensburg

After going to Moira and Brian's wedding in Seattle, RJ unfortunately had to return home to Yuma. However, Stirling and I were able to stay and make a trip over to Ellensburg. Boy is Stirling having fun with Opa and Ry. He is loving all the animals and tractors!

Being Productive

I had a lot of fun being creative today! First, we all did some spin-art painting using a salad spinner and tempera and acrylic paints.

Then, I made some brownie cupcakes decorated to look like barbecues.

And since RJ was home and could keep an eye on Stirling, I made a curtain for the downstairs bathroom/laundry area while the two of them played on the computer.

Summer Begins!

Yay! Summer vacation has finally arrived. I have been looking forward to this feeling of relief for months! I did go into work on Tuesday to turn in end of the year paperwork and tidy up a bit. Then I ran into my principal who informed me that, "oh, by the way, you are moving classrooms." My students had been beggging me for weeks to help me take everything off the walls and clean things up but I kept telling them no, I would use everything next year. I wish I had known a few days earlier about the room change becuase my students could have helped a great deal on those last few pointless days of school. So I ended up going in to work two days this week and am now nearly done moving. I rolled everything back and forth down the hall on a chair with the help of a coworker- bless her!

Anyway, even with that minor bit of chaos, I am feeling lighter and unburdened already! Stirling and I have a few things planned for the summer, including weekly story and craft time at the library. Stirling was bit of a wallflower at the first one this week. There were a ton of kids in the 2-5 age group and he sat on my lap and watched most of the singing, dancing and stories.

We also started a planting project on our patio with radishes, beans, zinnias, and sunflowers in pots. I ran out of dirt and pots before I ran out of seeds, so it is all pretty crowded. Stirling managed to sneak in a few extra seeds here and there, and kill a few more by pulling them out or smushing them with his ball. We still need to put up stakes for the beans, but it is already looking like a little garden on our front porch.

I am trying out some new crafts as well. The three of us made collage placemats which turned out very cute. I was really excited that Rj was interested in doing a craft with us- he was very into looking for just the right pictures from the magazines. I went a little overboard with glitter on my placemat. Stirling enjoyed sticking on smiley face stickers.

I had hoped to post some pictures of these events, but for whatever reason, I can't get them to load. I will try again in a few days- Did it!
