In January we got up early, bundled the kids, though not well enough, and drove a few short miles to watch a local herd of elk being fed by the DNR. When we got there, we saw what looked like a few dozen elk eating the hay that a truck was spreading. However, as we trudged up the hill for a better view, we realized that there were several dozen, and more kept joining them from the other hills. I couldn't believe how many elk were arriving down the trails and jumping into the canyon to be fed. It being only about 7 degrees outside, we didn't stay long since our poor little guys were not happy. Next time we'll do full snow suits and bring a thermos of hot cocoa as well!

BBBRRRR!!!! logan looks like his eyes are frozen shut. As for the elk, my gosh, you would think there wasn't any food anywhere for them except as provided by the DNR. that is a lot of elk!
ReplyDeleteOHHHH. That is SO cool!!! I would have loved to see all those Elk. Of course I'm also not fond of the 7 degree idea, but it might just be worth it.
