Nature Baby

Stirling loves being outside. Here are a few pics of him enjoying our great Yuma weather.

Christmas Photos- Really Late!

Ok, here are some pics from our Christmas celebrations this year- our house, the Smead house, the Samples house, and the Woods house. Stirling had several first Christmases! It was a great time with all our family and friends.

Sick

We have been taking turns being sick lately. RJ had a slight cold, then Stirling was sick with a cold for almost two weeks, then RJ got a bad cold. Now I am sick. I think it is a touch of the flu- stomach and sinuses are bothering me. I am feeling better today than I did yesterday, and certainly better than I did on Sunday. I am taking tomorrow off anyway... I'll never get all the way better teaching all day in a room full of germy 10 year olds! I think my class is probably where the germs origniated. One girl in my class even threw up in class this week... and then 42 others said, "Mrs. Woods, I feel siiiiick...." You have to imagine that said in a pitiful little whine! Anyhow, I am looking forward to having a day off to lay around and take naps, possibly answer some email and clean the bathroom. Yes, I am looking forward to cleaning the bathroom- it gets done so rarely these days! And since I am going to a workshop/training this Saturday, I feel justified taking a sick day.
And can I take a moment to rant? The Saturday training is an English Immersion training- so that we can effectively teach ELL students. But, the ELL students have been segregated into their own speical classes, so why do I have to learn the strategies to teach them, if they are not even going to be allowed in a regular ed classroom? (Which was a stupid decision in the first place!) It seems like a waste of my day off to be taking this training. Ok, enough ranting for now! There will be more to come- budget crisis in Arizona education... duhm, duhm, duuuuhm.
