I feel so helpless and upset every time I look at Stirling's arms and legs. His eczema has gotten so bad in the past couple of weeks. We went to the doctor a few weeks ago, but it was just a few red bumps on his knees and and some bumps and sores on his elbows. Right after the doctor's visit, it started spreading. We've been using all the creams and ointments, but it is so red and scaly it just makes me want to weep. My poor little guy.

Hi Colleen,
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to see the eczema on Stirling's legs! Have you tried going gluten-free for him? I went gluten-free in January and all of my eczema and other skin issues are gone. It definitely helped! Hope that your handsome little boy's skin clears up soon! You look beautiful - love the name for your newest addition!
Love,
Coco
Owen had eczema really bad when he was younger and the allergist said it was important for him to take atleast a 20 minute bath every night and then we put vanicream on him. I also had to put tights on him for a while so he wouldn't scratch. The tights also helped keep his skin hydrated. It sure was a pain, but it really helped.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the delay here- just catching up. I was going to ask about food allergies or gluten intolerance too. It might not be what is going on, but it could easily be a food reaction. Another thing that might help in addition to the creams and baths would be to increase his intake of Omega-3 (like flax or walnuts or fish). That is supposed to help with dry skin and makes hair super shiny as a bonus. Good luck! It does look painful and unpleasant.
