Well, he is a boy... I am sure this is the first of many!
The day of- 5/22/11
The day after- 5/23/11
Two days later- 5/24/11
He ran from the bathroom where I was getting him dressed, into our bedroom and I heard a THUNK and then a howl. He came back holding his face and wailing. There was a huge swelling under his eye right away, and a little gash where he cut his face on the trunk at the end of our bed. It was gruesome looking at first and I was freaking out! We put some ice on it and gave him some children's tylenol and put him down for a nap. After that, it didn't seem to bother him at all. By now, it is mostly yellowish with one purple line. Just enough to make him look like trouble!

Why?
"Why?" "Why mom?" My son's new favorite question has led me to be very descriptive and creative with my explanations. When I tell him no more snacks, he asks "why?" and is not satisfied with "you will not have room in your tummy for dinner." So he asks "why won't there be room in my tummy for dinner?" "Because your tummy is small." "Why?" "Because you are small." "Why?" "You are not a grown up yet." "Why?" And on it goes....
I am pretty proud that I have only resorted to "because I said so" or "because I'm the mom" a couple of times. I have tried to encourage (or at least tolerate!) his questioning. As he gets older, he won't have the same sense of curiousity and wonder, and it is neat to watch him learn about the world.

Happy Birthday Stirling!
Stirling turns three today! He is such a neat little boy and its been a blessing to have him in our lives. It is amazing how fast the last three years have gone by.
This is when Stirling was just two months old. What a sweetie!
We celebrated his birthday on Sunday at Peter Piper Pizza. We had invited a handful of his friends from daycare, and one family with two kids showed up. Stirling had fun with them and enjoyed playing the games, eating cake and opening presents. Previously I had asked him what he wanted to do and he told me "I want to go to Piper Pizza, and have cake, and have presents." When asked what kind of presents, he said "Buzz Lightyear presents." He is really a fan of the Toy Story movies, and Buzz in particular, so we did get him a Buzz Lightyear, and he loves it so much he has been taking it to bed!

Easter
Ok, I am just a little behind. Easter morning, Stirling sleepily and somewhat grumpily came downstairs to find his Easter basket on the table. He had a few jellybeans which cheered him up considerably, then we ate breakfast and hunted for eggs. The rest of the day was spent re-hiding the eggs. Me hiding the eggs for Stirling, Stirling hiding the eggs for RJ and I.... Stirling hiding the eggs and then finding them himself.... all day long!
Easter cookies made a few days before Easter. Stirling helped with the sprinkles.
