Stirling has two favorite pastimes- reading and playing on the computer. And when I say reading, I mean that he likes for me to read the same book to him over and over and over and over. I think I have at least 4 or 5 books memorized. "Mouse put one star on the Christmas tree. He added two angels, three snowflakes...." Stirling's main goal while we are reading is to turn the pages as fast as possible so that I have to read at light speed. For some books I have just started naming nouns- " a duck, ball, bear," so I can get something out before we flip again!
Stirling has also started enjoying the computer. Or as he calls it, "ba-puh." He stands at the computer chair and gazes at the screen. If we leave the keyboard too close to the edge of the desk, he'll grab and pull. I found a couple of websites that have games for babies. All the baby is required to do is whack the keyboard. Any key runs the game. Except however, all of the wonderful function keys, control keys, and windows keys. Today, Stirling somehow managed to open 41 search windows in the space of about 2 seconds. Took me a lot longer than that to close them all! He has fun watching the games and pounding on our keyboard though, so I live with the wackiness that he is causing on the computer.

Purses
Waaahh!! My purse broke. I have been carrying the same purse for about 10 years. It was a little, sporty looking thing that I could hang across my body. I loved it. I had been thinking about getting another, more "fashion forward" purse so I could have two of them. Luckily, the old purse broke in the parking lot of the mall as we were about to go in. It was decided- I was getting a new purse! My new one is more mature and stylish. It is also mommy sized, whereas the old one was definitely not. I found out today in fact that I can fit a spare diaper, a sippy cup, a small tupperware of Cheerios, and a board book in my purse along with all of my own things. Wow! Maybe this was a good change. It is kind of weird what your purse says about you though. Oh well, I guess it was time to move on!

Mystery Rash...
Last Friday I noticed a rash on Stirling's back. By the next day it had spread to pretty much his entire body. Just tiny red dots all over. On Monday I called the doctor and she said since they weren't itching, it was probably a viral infection which is quite common and nothing to worry about. Still, I worry. Especially since yesterday Stirling had a very red lower back with raised welts on it (where the waistband of the diaper covers). Now it may be unrelated to the other rash, but he has never had a reaction to his diaper like this before, so I don't know what to think. I had to take his diaper off and pin a cloth diaper/burp cloth around him.(I've never done that before- you can tell!)
So today I am having him wear just Pampers instead of the cheaper Wal-mart or Target brands he usually wears, since the Pampers seem to be gentler on his skin. So, still worrying of course.

New Car!!!
We did it! We bought a new car. It is a new 2008 Jeep Liberty 4-wheel drive. We spent more than we orignially planned for, but it comes with a lifetime warranty which was a definite bonus. RJ picked it out after driving several other small SUVs. This one has better gas mileage than some, and a few nice features like the sliding full sun roof.

Car Shopping
Well, it's official. We have to get a new(to us) car. RJ is out right now doing preliminary car shopping. He is looking for a small SUV 4x4 with decent gas mileage that is only a few years old. I think he was looking at a Jeep today, as well as a Kia Sorento, and perhaps a Huyndai of some kind. This vehicle will be for RJ to drive and he wants to be able to go for drives out in the desert still. We are lucky becuase the mechanic that RJ has been taking his truck to (so often!) told us to give him a call when we found a vehicle we liked and he would take a look at it and help us haggle on the price. He even gave us his home number so we could call this weekend. Now that is some amazing customer service!!
It is a bummer to have to buy a car, although it was good timing for his truck to break since I don't have to be going to work right now. Plus we just finished paying off hospital bills, so that money can now go towards a car payment. Yikes- I've never had a car payment before!! I know, I'm almost 30- I don't know how I've escaped that for this long!
Stirling would like us to get a Corvette, but then again he has a need for speed!

It always comes in threes...
Bad news that is. First, I forgot to turn in some insurance paperwork that I didn't know I had to sign since I thought it was only if you wanted a change in insurance. Nope, everyone had to do it. Hopefully the HR folks will forgive me and accept it late. I can't go without insurance. Second bad news is that our truck is broken, and unfixable. We are going to have to buy a car this next weekend. Unfortunately, RJ has to go to Phoenix this weekend, and I will be without a way to get to and from daycare and school on Friday. While I was dealing with all of this information at school yesterday during my lunchbreak, I got the third bad news... Stirling was running a fever at daycare and I needed to either pick him up or go give him some Tylenol. I had to rush over during the last 15 minutes of lunch and gave him the medicine, poor tyke. He wasn't looking good. Last night he had a temperature of 103.9! And it is almost that high today. RJ is going to have to come up from San Luis to take us to the pediatrician, since he took the car and I stayed home with Stirling. My poor little boy! I hate not being able to fix what is wrong. He just isn't himself. Normally, he is on the go constantly, but today has wanted to be held and sit in my lap all day. Oh, it makes me sad... sniff, sniff.
